Secretive. Tasteful. Nodmor Wine Society.

During my time in Ormond College, I participated in many extracurricular activities. I was part of Nodmor Wine Society from day one, when I was responsible for the logo design. My role in the team then evolved to creating the brand identity for event marketing, content creation and other print designs for ticket invitations, posters and banners.

In its early days, Nodmor aimed for class, elegance, prestige and exclusivity. The gold text on black backgrounds became its trademark. It was a simple and rudimentary theme that we continued to finetune, until it reflect the image we wanted to be. Our brand image is best curated via our page on Instagram below.

Highlights

Wine Tastings

These are smaller, more regular events for around 20 guests. For some of our tastings, we had the opportunity to invite and connect with wineries owned by our college alumni.

Design materials include ticket invitations and posters, Facebook banners, Instagram posts and stories as marketing for social media, and brochures for each guest with details for each featured wine.

Pinot & Pork

Our first and only college-wide event, hosting more than 500 Ormond students and staff. Due to RSA rules and guidelines, our previous events had to be capped at around 50 guests, so the Pinot & Pork Formal Hall was the big event our team worked ambitiously towards the end of 2023. It was a 3-course dinner served with a selection of 4 different Australian Pinot Noirs.

The design materials were standard for any event, with the addition of bookmarks printed for each guest to take home as a collectible.

Early Days

Logo Concept

Ormond College is known for its heritage building that we lived and socialised in. The architecture is breathtaking and it felt like a dream to have the chance to live there. Inspired by this, the logo was a clean outline of the building silhouette. What I liked was also that it reminded me of Batman’s Wayne Manor.

The name Nodmor (which is an anagram) is placed under the building outline because we first began was a secret/underground society. Lucky students would get a surprise invite for a wine night slid under their door. In the beginning, the excitement of the mystery was all the marketing we needed.
